MIDNITE BLUES
PARTY -
volume two
-
soon to
reissued on BLUEHEART RECORDS
RARE BLUES and RHYTHM & BLUES from the 1940's & !950's
Once volume one of Midnite Blues Party was released,
what was the concept to follow up this highly accepted and reviewed
release of 45s from the mid 50 to the late 60s? I decided to step
back in time and do a CD of 78s that were rare or unlisted in Blues
Records -1943-1970 by Leadbitter and Slaven or were in
Jazz discographies, that I believe should have been listed in Blues
Records. This release is quite different than volume one, Rare Blues
and Rhythm & Blues 78's from the 1940's and 1950's. It contains
a little more of the jazzier and jump side of the Blues. If you get
both volumes of Midnite Blues Party I would suggest playing
volume two first as it leads into volume one chronologically. And
the two volumes definitely create a Midnite Blues Party.
A very special thankx to Andrew Galloway
and
Electro-Fi Records for the initial release of
this CD. Eddy B

'Eddy B' didn't wait long to issue a second volume and once again it's a
killer collection of vintage rarities many of which probably haven't
been heard since they were first issued on 78. The music represents
a music in flux and while there's plenty
of blues there's also proto-R&B and you can certainly hear the seeds
of rock & roll, which would burst out fully in the mid-50's. However you classify it, the music is fabulous. If anything
the music on this collection appears even more obscure than
the previous volume and I doubt much of this has made it's way on to
CD before. Fans of vintage Blues and R&B will love
this collection and long time collectors will find plenty of new
material. At 28 songs there's nary a bad one in the bunch
which means nearly 77 minutes of wonderful music'. - Jeff Harris
